MAREMOTO ACTION

PRIVACY POLICY

Effective Date: October 6, 2026

Maremoto Action (“Maremoto,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization that engages in Latino cultural, policy, and political work. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, share, and protect information through https://somoselmaremoto.org (the “Site”), including our voter registration check and “make a plan to vote” tools, which are built and hosted in partnership with Formation Impact. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

When you use the Site, we may collect the following information that you provide directly:

  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • Telephone/mobile number
  • Street address, city, state, and ZIP code

We do not offer any tool on the Site anonymously; the information above is required to use the voter registration check and the “make a plan to vote” tool. We do not currently give users the option to submit additional, voluntary information beyond what a given tool requires.

1.2 Voter Registration Check (Powered by TargetSmart)

Our voter registration check uses the TargetSmart voter registration API. When you submit your name, address, and other identifying information, that information is sent to TargetSmart, which returns a result indicating whether you appear to be registered to vote at that address. If our records indicate you are registered, the Site displays a confirmation message. If not, the Site provides a link to your state’s official voter registration website.

We retain a record in our Action Network database confirming that you used the tool and, where applicable, that you were shown as registered or unregistered. We may use the tool to compile or share lists identifying registered and unregistered individuals. We may combine information returned by TargetSmart with information from our other databases, voter files, or supporter lists, as described in Section 3 below.

1.3 “Make a Plan to Vote” Tool

If you use the “make a plan to vote” tool, we collect the home address you enter, the polling location you select from the results shown to you, and the date you indicate you intend to vote. This information is stored in our Action Network database and associated with your contact record.

1.4 Information We Collect Automatically

We and our service providers use analytics and advertising technologies—including Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, and Google Ads and Meta Ads conversion tracking—to understand how visitors use the Site and to measure the performance of ads that direct traffic to the Site. These technologies may collect information such as your IP address, browser and device information, and the pages you view, and may track your activity from a page view through completion of a form on the Site. This information is generally associated with your device or browser rather than directly linked to your name in our Action Network records, but because it is shared with providers such as Google and Meta for advertising and measurement purposes, it may be linked to you through those providers’ own systems. See Section 4 (Cookies, Analytics, and Online Advertising) for more detail and your choices.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate the voter registration check and “make a plan to vote” tools;
  • Create and maintain your contact record in Action Network;
  • Send you follow-up communications, including invitations to join our WhatsApp channel, voting reminders, voter registration information, and other content;
  • Contact you in the future about Maremoto’s programs, initiatives, advocacy work, and fundraising;
  • Conduct voter mobilization, issue advocacy, lobbying-related communications, and other political and organizing activity consistent with Maremoto’s mission as a 501(c)(4) organization;
  • Combine the information you provide with other information available to us—including other Action Network supporter records, voter files, and publicly available or commercially available information—to build audience segments, better understand our supporters, and target our communications and advertising more effectively;
  • Measure and improve the performance of the Site and our advertising campaigns; and
  • Maintain the security and integrity of the Site.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your information. We do not currently share information collected through the Site with candidates, campaigns, political committees, PACs, or outside advocacy organizations, and our service providers are not permitted to use your information for their own independent purposes. We do share information with the following categories of service providers who help us operate the Site and communicate with our supporters:

We may also disclose information where required to do so by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Maremoto, our supporters, or others.

4. Cookies, Analytics, and Online Advertising

The Site uses cookies, pixels, and similar tracking technologies, including Google Analytics and Meta Pixel, to measure how visitors move through the Site—from an initial page view through completion of a form—and to measure the performance of Google and Meta advertising campaigns that direct traffic to the Site. These providers may use this information to help us reach similar audiences or retarget visitors with future ads.

You can generally control cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. You may also be able to limit interest-based advertising through your Google Ads Settings or Meta Ad Preferences, or through the Digital Advertising Alliance’s opt-out tools.

By submitting your contact information through the Site, you will be presented with an opt-in to receive communications.  Your consent to receive these communications by email and, where you have provided a mobile number, by text message (SMS) or phone will be presented at the point of collection. Message and data rates may apply. You may withdraw your consent and opt out of communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link in our emails, replying STOP to text messages, or contacting us at hola@maremoto.us.

6. Voter Data, Political Activity, and Profiling

Because Maremoto is a 501(c)(4) organization engaged in political and advocacy work, information collected through the Site—including your voter registration status, your voting plan, and your contact information—may be used for voter mobilization, issue advocacy, lobbying-related communications, fundraising, and other political activity consistent with our mission. We may combine this information with other political, demographic, consumer, or publicly available data to build audience segments, better understand the communities we serve, and target our own communications and advertising.

We do not sell or provide individual-level voter registration results to any third party, and your specific registration status is shown only to you.

7. Data Retention

We retain the information we collect through the Site for as long as it remains useful to our organizing, advocacy, and communications work, unless you ask us to delete it or applicable law requires a shorter retention period.

8. Your Privacy Choices and Rights

You may contact us at hola@maremoto.us to:

  • Determine what information we hold about you;
  • Correct inaccurate information we hold about you;
  • Request deletion of your information;
  • Withdraw your consent to future contact; and
  • Opt-out of any or all communications.

We will respond to verified requests within a reasonable time. Please note that we may retain limited information as necessary to comply with legal obligations, maintain suppression lists honoring your opt-out request, or resolve disputes.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Site is directed at adults who are eligible to vote and is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hola@maremoto.us so we can delete it.

10. Data Security

We limit access to information stored in Action Network to a limited number of authorized personnel. While we take reasonable steps to protect the information we collect, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. International Visitors

The Site is intended for individuals located in the United States and is not actively promoted outside the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, please be aware that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Effective Date” above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Site after a change becomes effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
